Breeders' Classic, Pleasure Horse Sale

Hunter Under Saddle Prospects

Fourteen years ago, the Breeders' Classic auction idea originated when four friends, all Quarter Horse breeders, happened to attend another mutual friend and breeders' complete dispersal sale. The auction consisted solely of pleasure horses. A huge crowd of pleasure horse breeders and enthusiasts attended this sale and the horses brought great prices. The four friends said to one another, "Why can't we do this?", and the "Breeders' Classic" concept was born. With lots of thought and planning, we were off and running before we knew it. Our first annual auction debuted in 1991 and for the past twelve years has been an enormous success.

T he Breeders' Classic Pleasure Horse Sale is a partnership consisting of four families of longtime "Leading Quarter Horse Breeders". Our production sale is held annually at Gordyville Arena in Gifford, Illinois. Each year we offer the public approximately 130 head of some of the finest pleasure prospects and proven horses anywhere in the United States. The sale consignments represent both the bloodlines of our four farms and the produce of many other top quality breeders. The Breeders Classic founders welcome as consignors both the small and big breeders of American Quarter Horses, American Paint Horses, and the Appaloosa Horse.

T his is a win-win event for all. Our first purpose has been to provide a public sales opportunity for reputable breeders to present their best "home-grown, bred and raised" horses for sale. Our second and equally important goal has been to provide quality, fresh, young prospects that not only seasoned auction veterans can invest in with confidence, but the average or novice consumer can also feel secure owning.

T he Breeders' Classic marketing concept is modeled after the leading yearling Kentucky Thoroughbred sales. We gather large numbers of buyers and sellers together under one roof in a comfortable, festive social setting. Round pens are set up prior to the sale to accommodate the exercising of each individual prospect. These pens provide ideal viewing conditions and ample inspection time for prospective buyers. A veterinarian is on premise for pre-purchase examinations. This special sale provides the best and most convenient facility available, and every opportunity for the consignor to present his horse to its best advantage to potential buyers.

T his Pleasure Horse Sale has been built with pride, and is managed by reputable people who are concerned about each individual consignor and buyer's needs and satisfaction. This is what "our" sale is all about: four friends, a marketing concept which became a reality, and an annual event that is not to be missed. Come join us on the afternoon of September 6th. We look forward to seeing you there!
